Odt2daisy and Odt2braille (both outcomes of the EC funded AEGIS FP7 project) have been included in Create&Convert, a package of open-source programs that can quickly translate electronic documents into an accessible alternative format. Create&Convert is devised by the JISC Regional Support Centre Scotland North & East. It helps educational institutions comply with the Equality Act 2010, which came into force on 1 October of this year.
The Create&Convert website includes a few videos that illustrate the process of creating an accessible document, exporting to DAISY and exporting to Braille. The OpenOffice version of Create&Convert (see “OpenWriter version”) can be downloaded for free and can be run from a USB pendrive.
