The EPR public affairs event will explore how specialized service providers can best accompany de-institutionalisation and design effective support in the mainstream environment. The event will showcase good practices from EPR membership and signals the launch of the EPR Report on the Delivery of Services in the Mainstream Environment. The report and recommendations drawn from the research will be presented. This will be followed by a panel discussion with representatives of the institutions and other stakeholders, to respond to the research and recommendations and consider future steps.

From 14 to 17 September, a large group of people from all over Europe rallied to the EU Parliament to promote disabled people’s rights and independent living. They handed 8 demands to President Jerzy Burzek and to Richard Howitt MEP, in which they call for de-institutionalisation across Europe, right to personal assistance and the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disability.
